Fashion Event: International Corjor Fashion Show ♥ ♥

Friday, February 25, 2011

This week is Fashion Week in DC!  Since I hadn't been to any of the previous events this week, I decided to go to the International Corjor Fashion Show held at the Mood Lounge tonight.  This fashion show featured European inspired Red Carpet fashions designed by Ean Williams the director of DC Fashion Week.  Here is the video that I took of the runway...

Hmmm...my personal opinion....the make up looked great ^.^;;  But seriously, when did Big Bird become  fashionable?  I really hope people in Europe aren't wearing things like that.  Some of the pieces were beautifully put together, but I particularly did not appreciate any of the men's designs.  However I could appreciate their abs! ^__~  Here are some more photos that I took...

And YES...that is a sheet that the models are walking on LOL!  For Ean Williams being the director of DC Fashion Week, I would have thought he would pick a better venue for his collection.  It was pretty tacky and some of the crowd was a bit...unrefined (as you can hear in my video!)

Now this is the face of a real model! ^.^;;  The ugly guy next to me is just a fan trying to be a groupie.  He was nice enough to hold my jacket while I filmed the show.  Overall I was disappointed, but it was still fun getting out and seeing the event.  Wish the honey bun could have come out with me, but he said I wore him out already this week ^. ~

Until next time...

Date Night: Movie Premiere of "Drive Angry" in 3D

Thursday, February 24, 2011

This cutie pie invited me out two nights in a row to yet another movie premiere!  I just got home from checking out "Drive Angry" in 3D starring Nicholas Cage before it hits the big screen.  I was really excited to go, but mostly so I could get cuddled up with this sexy guy. ^.~  Too bad the movie sucked!  You have to enjoy melodramatic bad acting and poor story lines if you're going to appreciate this movie.

At least we had fun goofing off with our 3D glasses ^__^.

Until next time...

Date Night: Movie Premiere of "Win Win"

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

Goodevening!  I'm just getting home from yet another amazing date with the honey bun ^.~  Tonight we went to see the movie premiere of "Win Win" starring Alex Schaffer and directed by Tom McCarthy.  This movie is charming and funny!  You'll definitely love the characters and relationships.  Check out the trailer!

The really amazing thing about this movie premiere was that Tom McCarthy and Alex Schaffer appeared for a Q&A session, and to autograph posters.  My honey bun made sure I got my poster autographed, so I'm really happy about that.  ^.^;;  He's such a sweetheart, it's hard to believe that a good guy like him is actually single.  There's gotta be a catch! Hmmm we will see ^_~

That's my date getting his poster autographed by Alex Schaffer!  His personality in real life is very humble and laid back, kind of just how his character was in the movie!

Until next time...

I Love New York! & Maya Angelou

Friday, February 18, 2011

Yesterday I went on my second date with the new guy that I am talking to.  We took the Greyhound bus up to New York together to meet Maya Angelou at her book signing.  This was my first time going to New York so I was bubbling with excitement, yet a little nervous at the same time.  It's probably not the wisest thing to go traveling out of state with a guy I just met, but he has a genuineness in his eyes and a kind heart.   These are some of the photos that I took...

I snuck this picture of him on the Greyhound bus.  Soooo cuuute! ^______^

On the bus I took some artsy shots of the architecture pictures of the scenery in New York.

After our bus arrived, we caught a cab to go to the Barnes & Noble that Maya Angelou would be appearing at.  We got all cuddled up!

As soon as we walked into Barnes & Nobel, we ran into this sign!  We were so disappointed.  Turned out Maya was having some health issues and was unable to come to her book signing.

We didn't let the bad news ruin our trip though! We checked out some different places in NY.  This is Max Brewwer Chocolatier.  It's a Chocolate restaurant!

The chocolates in Max Brewwer's were soooo cute! ^______^

I didn't know they still made cameras like that!  This is the second time he's used one of those rinky dink cameras on one our dates ^.^;;  But it turns out it takes good pics!

It's Fashion Week in NY! ♥

Then we found a Korean Karaoke restaurant called Boho!  They just opened this week and the hostess gave us a great deal on a karaoke room, $8/hour!

We sung...we rapped...we ate bulgolgi...and had an amazing time!  This was my favorite part of the whole trip.

After dinner we took a walk down Union Square.  It looks like Tokyo here! Sooo pretty!

We saw the theatre that's showing Mary Poppins on Broadway and took some silly pictures!

He was really interested in the hand drawn portraits some of the artists on the street were doing.  This guy is trying to hustle us into getting a picture done!  Tempting...but we had to head back to the bus station and make our long journey back home.

I had an amazing time and am completely exhausted from the trip.  I didn't get to see the legendary Maya Angelou, but I got to spend time with and get to know an amazing guy.

Until next time....

Girls Night Out: Korean BBQ ♥ ♥ ♥

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

So I was still a lil sad that my *original* Valentine's Day plans got botched...and even though I had a hot date over the weekend who showed me an amazing time anyway, I still felt as if my preparations were going to waste.  Nothing worse than getting your hair done and getting cute so you can look extra beautiful and yummy on someone's arm...and he cancels on you...

I decided to grab my best friend Airi and go out for a girls night.  We had dinner at a Korean BBQ place in Annandale, VA.  I think it was called Honey Pig ^.^;;  Korean BBQ is a great place for a girls night because we can share great conversation over yummilicious affordable food.  I love how they cook the food in front of you.  She just got her hair done too, so this gave us an opportunity to flaunt in public ^__~

These are the sides and sauces.  Yuumm salad and kimchi! ^_____^

My bestie!  She normally has very long beautiful hair, so this is a cute short look on her.  I ♥ it!

Bulgolgi and eye rib steak!  Verrrrry delicious!

That's muuaaah!  I'm a lover, not a fighter ^. ~

Well tomorrow, the same sweetie who took me out to see the broadway play and dinner on Sunday, he's taking me up to New York to meet Maya Angelou at her book signing for her new cook book!  I just met him and he's already taking me on road trips lol! I ♥ it!

Until next time...

Pre-Valentine's Day Romance

Monday, February 14, 2011

Happy Valentine's Day!  It's sort of a bitter sweet day for me.  Turns out my honey bun is all bun and no honey! LOL!  He made all of these really nice plans for Valentine's Day weekend a month in advance...but somehow he forgot that he had to work this weekend.  I'm a very patient woman, but I don't like promises and plans made that cannot be delivered upon.  On Saturday I reposted my dating profile just to kind of see who else is out there because I am single after all.  Not even two hours later a real cutie pie sends me a message inviting me out to see the Broadway play "FELA" the next day.  I was a bit skeptical because his profile kind of made him sound like he was really picky about women, and I like to have an ongoing dialogue with people for a while before meeting them in person.  Something inside me said, why not?  I bought this really expensive Free People dress to wear somewhere nice for Valentine's Day weekend and I already got the shoes and accessories to match.  So here is how my first date went...

So I meet up with the new guy at the Shakespeare Theatre Company on F St. NW in Washington, DC.  This is my first time here, so I was really looking forward to the play!

FELA is about to start!  This play was written by Will and Jada Pinkett Smith.  It's a play about the true story of a Nigerian musician named Fela Kuti who devoted his music to defy an oppressive military regime.

This is us posing after the play!  He's so very handsome! ^.^;;  I'm really glad that my niece did my hair. It turned out really beautiful.  This was an amazing first date.  I loved the play and we shared a lot of good laughs, but the date wasn't over just yet...

He took me out to a nice mediterranean restaurant called Zaytinya, which was nearby.  I ordered seared salmon, which was very delicious.  He ordered roasted cauliflower, which he claimed was yummy, but I was suspicious of haha!  I'm a very picky eater when it comes to vegetables.  I know you can't see my dress here, but the restaurant was chilly!

After dinner, we went to a small movie theatre and saw a South Korean film called "Housemaid".  It was pretty good, but had a bizarre ending.  This is my dress!  I can't wait to wear it again.  The plunge in the neckline makes me a bit shy, but I don't think that it looks trashy.

I wouldn't say I had a Valentine this year, but I am thankful that I at least got to get out and have a good time.  It's really nice being treated like a real lady.  My date seemed like a real gentleman and I think any girl he settles down with will be a very happy woman.  I'm not sure if he's interested in me or not, but I did get invited on a second date!  He wants me to go to New York with him this Thursday to meet Maya Angelou at her book signing for her latest cook book.  This is like a once in a lifetime opportunity and its crazy that he wants to spend it with me!

Until next time...

Unique Date Idea #002

Saturday, February 5, 2011

Studies show that couples who laugh together are more fond of one another and share more intimacy together.  This is why I am recommending checking out a local Improv Comedy Club! It's a great setting to have dinner, laugh with your boo-boo bear, and get to mingle with celebrity comedians after the show.

DC Improv features both celebrity comedians and local comedy acts.  Ticket prices vary, but are often the cost of a movie ticket.  They have an extensive menu with popular American dishes and a hearty drink menu as well.  All shows are only for 18 and up audiences.

Address: 1140 Connecticut Ave. NW DC 20036

Tickets are available online at: http://www.dcimprov.com/

This is definitely on my list of things to do with my sweetie!  I've been to some amazing comedy shows in Florida, so I definitely have to hit up one in DC!

Until next time...
